Becker’s ASC Review has named William Tobler, MD, one of 100 physician leaders to know in the ambulatory surgery center industry. Dr. Tobler is a neurosurgeon with the Mayfield Clinic, Chairman of the Board of Managers at The Christ Hospital Spine Surgery Center, and Professor of Neurosurgery at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.
Becker’s ASC Review reports that beyond providing care in the low-cost, high-quality environment of ASCs, “physician leaders lead clinical and administrative teams, establish successful ASCs, stand up for the industry and found companies that support industry growth.”
Dr. Tobler has been instrumental in developing minimally invasive fusion technologies for the outpatient setting. He specializes in minimally invasive spine surgery, including discectomy, spinal fusion, decompression, artificial disc replacement, and outpatient minimally invasive lumbar spine fusion. He also performs minimally invasive deformity correction and treats tumors of the brain and spine, pituitary tumors, and Chiari malformations.
Dr. Tobler, who graduated from the University of Notre Dame and the UC College of Medicine, performed his neurosurgical residency at the UC Department of Neurosurgery and joined the Mayfield Clinic in 1985. He served as Medical Director of the Spine Surgery Center from its development in 2006 until 2009.
