Mayfield physicians and providers continued to showcase their national leadership in neurosurgical academic research in 2023, increasing the number of national presentations to 27 and offering original research at the discipline’s leading meetings and events.
Presenting to groups including the North American Skull Base Society (NASBS), the American Association for Neurological Surgery and Congress of Neurological Surgeons (AANS/CNS) and the International Radiosurgery Research Foundation (IRRF), Mayfield neurosurgeons provided expertise that will help shape future care for patients with brain aneurysms, skull base brain tumors, spinal myelopathy, trigeminal neuralgia and other brain and spine disorders.
“Mayfield’s commitment to academic research will seed innovation and benefit patients for generations to come,” said neurosurgeon Dr. Andrew Ringer, Mayfield’s board chair. “Our physicians and providers are constantly searching for the best treatment option for each individual patient. Original research creates more options and raises the bar for future discovery.”
Highlights of Mayfield academic leadership this year include:
- Dr. Yair Gozal, NASBS, “Protons vs. Photons,” February 2023
- Dr. Zachary Tempel, AANS/CNS Spine Section, “Social Media in Spine Surgery,” March 2023
- Dr. Vincent DiNapoli, AANS/CNS Section on Tumors, “Sellar Tumor Challenges: Radiosurgery Indications & Limitations,” April 2023
