Dr. Juan Mejia is the latest Mayfield surgeon to become a shareholder

Dr. Juan Mejia has officially become the 16th neurosurgeon to join Mayfield Brain & Spine’s shareholder group, effective July 1. The move expands Mayfield’s foundation as a locally owned, independent practice dedicated to high-quality neurosurgical care.

Dr. Mejia, a graduate of St. Xavier High School, said this step carries special meaning, marking a deeper commitment to serving the community where he grew up.

“I’m incredibly proud to be working back home, in the place where I was raised,” Dr. Mejia said. “Mayfield’s independence allows us to put patients first and continue building something lasting – not just for today, but for the future.”

Dr. Mejia joined Mayfield in 2023, not long after the practice opened a new office in Anderson Township. He currently sees patients at that location and performs surgery at Mercy Hospital-Anderson, The Jewish Hospital-Mercy Health, The Christ Hospital and the Mayfield Spine Surgery Center.

His clinical focus includes both complex spinal disorders and minimally invasive procedures for degenerative spine conditions. Dr. Mejia completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Notre Dame and earned his medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. He returned to Cincinnati for his neurosurgery residency and fellowship training at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine before joining Mayfield.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Dr. Mejia to the shareholder group,” said Dr. Vincent DiNapoli, chairman of Mayfield’s Board of Directors. “His strong clinical skills, compassion for patients and commitment to teamwork will help sustain the legacy of excellence that has been a hallmark of Mayfield.”
